Graphics design for beginners – stock photos for free?

If you’re like me and you’re starting out your graphics design adventures without a penny to your name, then you’re going to need to use every free resource available in order to get by. For the first 6 months, up to a year, I’ve used Pixabay, a free stock photo website in my graphics designs, since I didn’t have money to purchase commercial stock photos. Pixabay is great because it doesn’t force people to give attribution to the stock photo uploader, even if the photo in question is used for commercial purposes.

Here’s an example of stock photo that I pulled from mohamed_hassan profile / Pixabay

Most of the stock photos that I pulled from Pixabay I used for random graphics designs that I put in my original portfolio. A good chunk of the stock photos from Pixabay was also for clients that I had in the beginning. One thing that I need to stress out is that you should donate to Pixabay project, because they are really nice to offer their service and if you’re not going to give attribution, then you should consider donating, no matter how small the amount. It costs money to run a website of that type, and it would be wrong not to give some back, if you can. Lately I’ve even been uploading some photos of my own to the website. It’s another form of giving back to the community and the world. Anyway, if you are looking for free stock photos, Pixabay is a great place to start your search. Check them out and let me know what you think.
